In terms of wool flannel for suits, it is mainly divided into worsted (velvet) flannel and woolen (wool) flannel. No matter what kind of flannel it is, it has a common feature, that is, its surface will be brushed with a layer of fluff, and it is precisely because of this layer of fluff that flannel is called flannel.
The production of flannel is to dye part of the wool first, then mix it with a part of the original color wool, mix and spin it into mixed-color wool yarn, and then weave it into fabric and finish it with milling and napping. Most of them use twill weave, but also plain weave. Except for all wool, the raw materials used are generally wool-viscose blended.
The raw material is 64-count fine wool, and the warp and weft are carded wool yarns with more than 12 metric counts. The fabric has plain weave and twill weave. The weight of the fabric is about 260-320 g/m2, and the thin one is about 220 g/m2.
Loose fiber dyeing is mostly used, mainly black and white mixed colors are mixed into different shades of gray or milky white, light coffee and other colors. There are also fancy patterns such as piece dyed plain color and sliver and grid. Flannel is also made of combed wool yarn or cotton yarn as warp and carded wool yarn as weft. Carded wool yarn is sometimes spun with a small amount of cotton or viscose.
